We have news to share – Unit 487’s 2024 Tournaments have a new home!
At our June 23-25 Sectional, we’ll be utilizing a new space made available from Lloyd Center. We’ll set up the office suite immediately next door to the Portland Bridge Club which will be more spacious and will accommodate more attendees than the Chess Club we have used for the past several tournaments.
The Unit’s September 2023 Fall Sectional has been upgraded to an Intermediate/Newcomer Regional rated event! Players with fewer than 750 master points will be playing for gold master points at this event. This is the first such regional tournament we have sponsored as a Unit, and we are planning a great event and expect a great turn-out.
Local clubs are opening, and even tournaments. For more information, see Portland Bridge Club. The Ace of Clubs is still virtual only.
For a report of the just concluded Oregon Trail Regional and information about upcoming events, see the District 20 Spring Trumpet.
After only 30 years Alan Johnson is leaving as the Unit’s Co-Tournament Manager.
I won my first Portland sectional fractional point October 5, 1991. Alan’s first?
Amazing! Paul Walker will carry on.
